Tuesday 27th November – walk **** – Melton to Woodbridge – cloudy.

After putting a big hole in my much used Tushingham Lightning 8.5 sail I thought about replacing it or looking for another one but in the end took the cheapest option and arranged with Suffolk Sails in Woodbridge to mend it for me. So, with some big winds coming today was a good opportunity to take the sail over to Woodbridge leaving Felixstowe at 10.30, just in time for Pop Master Quiz on Radio two. After dropping the sail off Mag and I went to park up at the carpark near Wilford Bridge, Melton. After yesterdays rain it was wet under foot but at least it was mainly dry, a bit of light drizzle and cloudy but pleasant enough for a walk along the River Deben with a whole host of feeding waders including a few Avocets:) It’s a lovely walk passing house boats, old Navy boats, boat yards before reaching the well-known Woodbridge Tide Mill looking a striking white against a menacing black sky. On reaching the sailing club we turned up into the town for a stroll along the quaint high street, we even visited a few Christmassy shops and bought two sausage rolls for £3.50 passing on the Wild Boar ones which would have cost us £7!!!!! It was then back down to the river and return to the van, definitely getting our six-mile achy legs!!!! So a nice walk, out a couple of hours covering 5 miles, then back to Felixstowe for an afternoon cuppa with an old friend buy her warm Aga and hopefully a windsurf at Point Clear tomorrow especially as getting a bit milder again:)
